The Third Element

[Sakura's dreaming.]

SAKURA: The radio tower. The figure in shadows.

[Clow Cards start falling from the sky and Sakura catches one.]

SAKURA: Clow Cards. Huh?

[The Clow Card in her hand disappears as do all the others.]

SAKURA: It disappeared. All the Clow Cards have disappeared.

[Sakura looks up to the figure.]

SAKURA: What do you want? I know I know you. If only I could see you. What are you trying to tell me? And who...

[Wakes up.]

SAKURA: Who are you?
MS. MacKENZIE: Who do you think I am?
CLASS: *laughs*

[Sakura looks up to see Ms. MacKenzie looking at her as well as the rest of her class.]

SAKURA: Ah! Ms. MacKenzie! You're here!
MS. MacKENZIE: Yes, but you weren't.
SAKURA: Sorry.
MS. MacKENZIE: Welcome back to Math Class, Sakura.

[The school bell rings.]

MS. MacKENZIE: Oh. Class dismissed.
SAKURA: Oh.
MS. MacKENZIE: And don't forget. Drill Team try-outs are tomorrow.

[Sakura and Madison are walking home from school.]

SAKURA: But I can't talk to Kero about it. Not yet. I have to understand this first.
MADISON: But, Ms. MacKenzie, Sakura?
SAKURA: I know.
MADISON: And the Clow Cards disappearing? That's never happened before has it?
SAKURA: You see, I think it means I've almost collected all the Cards.
MADISON: Really?
SAKURA: I think the dream might be some kind of test. And if it is, I want to pass it all by myself.
MADISON: Shouldn't you just talk to Kero?
SAKURA: Hmm. No way.
MADISON: But, Sakura...
SAKURA: On my own.
MADISON: That's cool. Well, if you won't talk to Kero, what about Li?
SAKURA: Li is Clow Reed's relative so I want to prove myself to both of them.
MADISON: You should talk to Nikki. She's reading an interesting book about dreams.
SAKURA: Mmm-mmm. No way. I can't. Forget it.
MADISON: You'll figure it out, Sakura. I know you will.

[The next day, at Drill Team try-outs.]

TEACHER: Good try. Now, whose next?
CHELSEA: So, anybody going to the Winter Carnival?
RIKA: We're going on vacation.
CHELSEA: Yeah. We're not going to be around here either. Too bad. I always loved the carnival.

[Up front, Zachary did a full flip around the bar.]

STUDENT: Way to go, Zack!
CHELSEA: If Zachary becomes Drill Team captain, we'll never hear the end of it.

[Close by, Sakura draws a design in the sand at her feet.]

MADISON: You're back at the dream, aren't you?
SAKURA: I just had a horrible thought.
MADISON: What is it, Sakura?
SAKURA: I'm worried about what's going to happen to Kero when I've captured all the Clow Cards.
MADISON: Kero?
SAKURA: Yeah.
MADISON: You mean, that he'll change?
SAKURA: Mmm-hmm.

[Up front, Li does several perfect flips around the bar, then jumps and lands neatly on his feet. The class applauds as Meilin stands up.]

MEILIN: I knew you could do it, Li! Whoo!
MADISON: I know someone who might be able to help.
SAKURA: Yeah?

[Later, after the try-outs, Meilin's washing her hands when Sakura and Madison walk out.]

MEILIN: My Li, captain of the Drill Team. O, I love it!
SAKURA: Meilin!
MEILIN: What?
SAKURA: Hi. Do you... uh...
MEILIN: Hey. What are you up to Sakura?
SAKURA: I need some advice.

[In the park after school.]

SAKURA: And you've been around Li and the Clow Cards a long time, so I thought you might have some ideas.
MEILIN: Who don't you ask Kero?
SAKURA: I was kind of hoping you could help me. I need to figure this out on my own.
MEILIN: Hmm... well, it could be that maybe... or maybe it's... then again, but... I know! Ha, ha! Ask Li Showron!
SAKURA: Thanks.

[At home in Sakura's bedroom, Kero's floating around in the air while Sakura picks up and puts down her phone from her bed.]

KERO: Sakura, what is your problem? Pick up the phone. Put down the phone. Pick up the phone. Put down the phone.
SAKURA: Oh.
KERO: You want to ask Li to the carnival? Just ask him.
SAKURA: It's not that easy.
KERO: Come on, what are you talking about? It's very easy, Sakura. All you gotta do is... PUSH A BUTTON!!

[Kero leans over and pushes a button the phone which starts to instantly ring.]

SAKURA: I, uh... Huh? Kero! Sorry, but what I meant to say is, this is Sakura. Li, I was talking to Meilin and she told me that you and her are going to the Winter Carnival. I've got to talk to you about something. Wait, is this Li? (to Kero) You pushed the wrong button. It's not Li, it's Julian. (to Julian) Sorry, Julian.
KERO: (to himself) I for one would love to go to the Winter Carnival, but of course, nobody thought to ask me. Ah, besides. I cannot stand that Li kid.

[Sakura and Julian arrive at the Winter Carnival.]

SAKURA: Wow, look at this, Julian!
JULIAN: Yeah, it's great. Now, you needed to talk?

[Not far behind, Madison and Kero arrive at the carnival.]

KERO: Hey, Madison, wait up!
MADISON: Hurry. I missed a couple of Card Captures lately and if ones going to turn up today, Kero, I'm going to get it on tape.

[Behind them, unnoticed, a wreath catches fire.]

KERO: Ah, don't worry about it, kid. You're with me.
MADISON: Yeah, but you've missed a couple yourself.
KERO: Ah!
MADISON: *laughs* Hey, look, they're heading toward the main midway. Come on, we can't lose sight of them.
KERO: Ah-hem. Just leave it to me. I don't miss a thing.

[Madison and Kero run/fly away as the wreath continues to burn. Then suddenly the fire goes out leaving a charred wreath.]

[Sakura and Julian are leaving the carousel.]

SAKURA: To tell you the truth, Julian. This problem, it's... Oh! Look!

[Sakura spots Li and Meilin walking around.]

SAKURA: Hey!
LI: Oh, hi.
MEILIN: Oh.
JULIAN: Hi!

[The four of them start walking around, Julian and Li in front and Meilin and Sakura behind them, talking. Li is doing a funny walk keeping his legs and arms straight.]

SAKURA: That's great you got the Drill Team captain, Li. Congratulations!
MEILIN: I can't believe you called Julian by mistake and now we have to hang out with him.
SAKURA: Sorry.
MEILIN: Right. And now you want me to set something up for you.
SAKURA: Yeah.
MEILIN: So you guys can have a private chat about the Clow Cards, am I right?
SAKURA: Yeah.
MEILIN: You don't fool me.
SAKURA: You've got to help me. It's important.
MEILIN: You'll owe me.
SAKURA: Li's really into the Drill Team thing with that new walk of his.

[The four of them enjoy some carnival rides. Then they walk by a cafe.]

SAKURA: Meilin, are you hungry?
MEILIN: Not really.

[Sakura steps on the back of Meilin's shoes.]

MEILIN: Ow! I mean, yes.
SAKURA: Me too.
JULIAN: Shall we try this place?
MEILIN: Uh, okay. Great.
SAKURA: Let's sit outside!

[They sit down at one of the tables when the waiter, Tori, comes up.]

TORI: So, this is an unexpected surprise.
SAKURA: What? Huh? Tori?! Uh, hey. Another new job.

[After Tori brings them their lunch, he continues to stand at the table as Julian is eating practically at the speed of light.]

SAKURA: I think Julian and Meilin would love to see the kitchen.
TORI: Really?! Could've fooled me, squirt. Looks like Julian's in lunch mode.
JULIAN: *munch, munch, munch*
SAKURA: Yeah, well when he's done of course.
TORI: Whatever.

[Li looks at Sakura, questionably, but all she does is smile.]

[Nearby, behind some bushes, Madison os video taping the others.]

MADISON: Oh, this is great!

[Kero sticks his face in front of the camera.]

KERO: No, it's not. I'm starving. I'm a growing beast, you know.
MADISON: Stick with me and I'll buy you a whole cake. A pudding cake.
KERO: Yeah! Cake! Oh, I sense something.

[Some of the electrical wires catch fire and other fires spring up around the carnival.]

JULIAN: What kind of gimmick is that?
TORI: That's no gimmick. It's on fire.
KERO: (behind the bushes) There's your Clow Card.
SAKURA & LI: A Clow Card.

[Sakura and Li run off.]

JULIAN: Hey!
TORI: Hey, what are you doing?

[Sakura and Li break through a line of bushes into the woods, where Li turns around with his sword and a Clow Card.]

LI: Time Card!

[Time spreads out and freezes everything in the moment.]

SAKURA: Oh. Huh?
LI: Sakura, I've stopped time. Now use the Sleep Card!
SAKURA: But...
LI: Quickly!
SAKURA: Right.

[Sakura takes out her necklace with the key on the end.]

SAKURA: Oh, Key of Clow. Power of magic. Power of light. Surrender the wand; the force ignite. Release!

[The key turns into her wand as Sakura holds up the Sleep Card.]

SAKURA: Sleep Card! Release and dispel!

[Sleep flies over the carnival, putting everyone to sleep. The Time Card stops and everyone falls down, asleep.]

KERO: Sleep? Good move, Sakura. The Sleep Card will buy us some time.

[Back in the woods, Li falls to the ground, using his sword to hold himself up.]

SAKURA: Li, what's wrong?
LI: The Time Card can use up a lot of a sorcerer's power. I need to rest.
SAKURA: You're sure?
LI: Yes. You're going to have to handle this one alone.

[Sakura takes out a Clow Card and holds it up.]

SAKURA: Windy Card! Release and dispel! Windy!

[Windy leaves the card and attempts to put out the flames. Only the flames get bigger.]

SAKURA: Oh.

[Kero appears.]

KERO: Sakura! This is Firey! It's a special card.
SAKURA: Kero, where did you come from?
KERO: We can talk about that later. Right now, what you have to know is that since Firey is one of the four elements, it's power is incredibly strong.
LI: You've only got Windy and Water, am I right?
SAKURA: Of the four basic elements? Yeah. And I'm guessing that this is a problem.
KERO: It's used Windy to fan the flames.

[The fire suddenly swirls around and the visible form arises.]

KERO: Oh, no. The visible form. Sakura, you have to act fast.
LI: What about the Water Card? Use the Water Card! Time's running out, Sakura!
KERO: No! Not so fast, Sakura! Listen up. If Firey used Windy to spread the flames, it's gonna use Water in the same way.

[Firey sends flames at the two kids, who dodge them. Sakura takes off, running, with Kero following her.]

KERO: Where are you going?
SAKURA: We're going to get help.
KERO: Hello, Sakura, you can use the cards.
SAKURA: How?
LI: Listen., you can't combine two attack cards!
KERO: Hey! Just because they haven't been allies, doesn't mean they can't be now! (to Sakura) But it's risky, Sakura. We don't know what will happen if you try. You've captured a lot of cards. Maybe this is as far as you go.
SAKURA: No! Not yet!

[Sakura quickly turns around and runs back to Firey.]

SAKURA: I'm a CardCaptor, Kero. And I'm going to finish what I set out to do.

[Sakura holds out Windy and Water.]

SAKURA: (thinking) My dream. Maybe this is the test I've been expecting. (aloud) Hmm. Windy! Water! Release and dispel!

[Windy and Water leave their cards and go after Firey.]

LI: I don't believe it. It's working!

[Windy and Water defeat Firey, who falls to the ground.]

KERO: Now!

[Sakura holds her wand over Firey.]

SAKURA: Firey Card! Return to your power confined!

[Firey disappears as it's card appears on the ground. Sakura picks it up.]

LI: Wow.
SAKURA: We did it.
KERO: Way to go, Sakura.

[Kero starts to glow.]

SAKURA: What's wrong?
KERO: Nothing's wrong. The energy governing my being is the sun. By capturing the Firey Card you have enabled me to begin my re-transformation.
SAKURA: And you're still here. You haven't left me!
KERO: Is that what you've been worried about? Sakura. I'm still the cute Keroberos you all love, except with some of my powers back.
LI: You're still just a stuffed animal.
KERO: Hey, kid, I dare you to say that again!
SAKURA: Now, come on you two.
LI: I'll take that dare! Stuffed animal! Stuffed animal! Stuffed animal!
KERO: You know who I am? I can take you on!
LI: Bring it on! I'm not afraid of you!

[Later, after everyone's woken up and continued to enjoy the carnival, Madison and Kero are standing by a ride.]

MADISON: I can't believe I missed taping another Card Capture, Kero. Now, where on Earth are you going?
KERO: I got a little business to attend to.
MADISON: Okay.

[On the Ferris Wheel, Meilin and Li are sitting in one of the compartments.]

MEILIN: No. One of the most important cards and you're telling me I missed it?
LI: Mmm-hmm.
MEILIN: What a drag.

[She sees Sakura and Julian across from them in another compartment.]

MEILIN: Oh. I knew it. I knew she was up to something
LI: Hmm. *groans*
MEILIN: She planned this, didn't she?

[In the other compartment.]

JULIAN: So, you still haven't said what's on your mind. Wanna chat? You need some advice about something?
SAKURA: Actually, it's all kind of worked out.
JULIAN: That's good.

[Suddenly it starts to snow.]

SAKURA: Oh.
JULIAN: Hey, it's snowing! That's cool!
SAKURA: Yeah. Really cool.

[Above everything, Kero flies around, small lights leaving his body and sprinkling to the ground.]

KERO: The Guardian Beast of the Seal is about to make a comeback! Yee-hoo!!
